Plovdiv Medical University offers top-tier education with its English-taught study programs in Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Pharmacy, leading to a Master's degree. The academic year begins on the 1st of October, with a Christmas break and a second semester starting on the 1st of February.
  • Medicine in English program spans six years, including a clinical internship in the final year, with annual tuition fees of €8,000.
    300 places annually are offered for international students seeking to study Medicine at Plovdiv Medical University.
  • Dental Medicine | Dentistry in English program, taking five and a half years to complete, includes an internship and the tuition fee is €8,000 annually.
    100 places annually are offered for international students in Dentistry at Plovdiv Medical University.
  • Pharmacy in English program lasts five years, also comprising an internship, and has a yearly tuition fee of €6,000.
    50 places annually are offered for international students in Pharmacy at Plovdiv Medical University.
When applying to Plovdiv Medical University, applicants should be aware of several non-refundable administrative fees.
  • A fee of €25.00 is required upon submitting application documents, payable at the University's Cashier Office, a Unicredit Bulbank branch in Plovdiv, or through a bank transfer.
  • Additionally, a €200.00 fee is charged for the first entrance exam,
  • while a re-sit entrance exam costs €300.00. Avoid the resit fee with our preparation courses.
These fees must be paid by card or bank transfer at least seven days before the exam, ensuring the funds are available in the University account.
Furthermore, the other expenses, such as accommodation, health insurance, textbooks, and educational handbooks, are not included in these fees. Plovdiv Medical University provides scholarships based on academic performance and extracurricular activities, but these do not cover tuition fees. Students may also explore student loan options in their home countries to help fund their education.

Application Process & Entry Requirements

Applying to study Medicine, Dentistry, or Pharmacy in English at Plovdiv Medical University involves a comprehensive application process with specific entry requirements. To begin, international students must submit their application documents, including a Diploma, School Leaving Certificate, or GCE A-2, showcasing their completed secondary education.Non-EU citizens must have an average of 62% or above in Chemistry and Biology.
The next step involves sitting for an online admission test in Biology and Chemistry, which is held several times a year and can be retaken. Results are posted online within a week, following the Bulgarian grading scale (2 – fail, 3 – minimum passing grade, 6 – maximum grade).
In September, Plovdiv Medical University publishes a ranking based on high school and entrance exam grades. The top 300 international students in Medicine, 100 in Dentistry, and 50 in Pharmacy secure a place at the university. To help you prepare and achieve outstanding results as well as avoid an exam resit, we offer access to a practice question pool, sample tests, study material, and mock exams, past papers and testsimulations.

Application deadlines are early September for EU/EEA citizens and mid-July for non-EU/non-EEA citizens. Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in Biology and Chemistry through high school coursework (A-level, leaving certificate, baccalaureate) and good grades. The ranking system takes into account secondary education diploma grades and entrance exam scores, with a maximum score of 36 and a minimum of 24. Failing marks in any test exclude applicants from the ranking process.

Remember, allocations are limited, so the sooner you apply, the higher your chances of securing a place.

Academic Year Structure

The academic year at the Medical University of Plovdiv is organized into two semesters. The first semester kicks off on the 1st of October and goes on until late December, with a festive Christmas break starting from the 23rd of December to the 6th of January. First-year students, however, enjoy the privilege of an even more extended break. Once refreshed, students begin the Second semester on the 1st of February, and it lasts until the end of May.
